Following the birth of her first child, Alexcia became passionate about
women’s health. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 10
years before completing her midwifery training. She believes that education,
support, and shared decision making are an important part of women's
health care and encourages women to participate in their care. She aims
to create experiences that are not overshadowed by fear and anxiety.
While she is away from work, Alexcia enjoys spending time with her husband
and children. They enjoy traveling to historic cities and Disney World
and playing video games. She also enjoys taking on new home improvement projects.
Prior to receiving her Master of Science degree in nursing from Frontier
Nursing University, Alexcia graduated with honors from Wilkes Community
College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN). She is licensed
as an Advanced Practice Nurse through the NC Board of Nursing and as a
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) through the American Midwifery Certification
Board (AMCB). She also holds a national certification in Electronic Fetal
Monitoring and has completed Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics training.
