Dr. Richard Chang is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases, corneal transplants, anterior segment surgery—including small-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants—and external diseases of the eye. He also provides medical management for glaucoma and comprehensive primary eye care, including eye exams and prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Chang completed his medical degree at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, followed by an internship at Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News, VA. He completed his residency and a fellowship in corneal and external disease at the University of Rochester. He is affiliated with Catawba Valley Medical Center and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
