Jennifer Lira, MD

Dr. Jennifer Lira is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in small-incision and laser-assisted cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants, as well as cataract surgery with iStent and other anterior segment procedures. She provides comprehensive medical and laser treatment for glaucoma, manages external diseases of the eye, and offers primary eye care services, including comprehensive eye examinations and prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Lira is committed to delivering personalized, high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

Dr. Lira is affiliated with Catawba Valley Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

She earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY. She completed a transitional internship at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, PA, followed by her ophthalmology residency at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC.
