Brian Dodd majored in biochemistry at the University of Georgia and received his degree as a physician assistant from Western Michigan University. He then was selected into the surgical residency program at Spectrum health in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He joined the U.S. Army out of high school at the age of 17. He served in the army medical corp as a hospital medic in California and Frankfurt, Germany.
After completing his training, he accepted a position in Boise, Idaho working with a functional neurosurgeon, where he was in practice for over a decade. He now practices as an orthopedic physician assistant with an emphasis on spinal surgery. He assists Dr. Maxy in surgery, and also routinely sees patients in the hospital and office.
A native of Detroit, he has lived in eight different states and now, with his wife of 26 years, calls North Carolina home
