We would like to congratulate Noelle Stevens for being Catawba Valley Medical Center’s first Certified Breast Care Nurse — credentialed by the Oncology Nursing Society! This challenging exam encompasses the full spectrum of breast care and is an impressive accomplishment. Noelle has served as our cancer program’s breast navigator since 2019 and is an excellent educator, navigator and advocate for her patients.
Nurse Navigators are experienced oncology nurses with extensive knowledge of cancer, cancer treatments, and local community resources available to patients and their families. Nurse Navigators are available to assist patients and families at any point during their cancer journey.
“Noelle Stevens recently became CVMC’s first RN certified as a Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN) by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation which requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of practice in breast care, 2 years RN experience and at least 10 hours of specialty education,” said Melanie Lutz, CVMC’s Cancer Program Director. “This specialty certification covers the full spectrum of breast care nursing and confirms that Noelle is committed to her practice, always increasing her knowledge and constantly working to provide excellent care and support to her patients as well as her colleagues.”
