Catawba Valley Medical Center continues its annual tradition of celebrating the 49th annual National EMS Week from May 21-27 with a weeklong series of acitivites to honor its regional EMS workers.
In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. This year’s theme is EMS: Where Emergency Care Begins.
EMS Week is a time to recognize the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s front line, and to raise awareness about the crucial role that EMS plays within our community.
“EMS is like having an Emergency Department on wheels that roll up to the scene of your emergency, bringing with them highly trained medical professionals and advanced equipment,” said Chuck Scronce, CVMC’s Emergency & Cardiac Services Administrator. “We’re so fortunate to have multiple agencies operating at a high-level servicing our communities.”
