CVHS Names Paige Sigmon as May 2026 DAISY Award Recipient

Catawba Valley Medical Center is proud to announce this quarter’s DAISY Award Recipient. The DAISY Award is designed to recognize exceptional nursing care. Join us in congratulating Paige Sigmon, who serves as a Patient Care Manager. Paige’s nomination detailed a heartfelt story of compassion while interacting with a patient and their family during a difficult time.

“I would like to fast forward to the moment I met Paige Sigmon, patient care manager. She was absolutely a light at the end of the tunnel not only for my dad but for me, who was shattered and broken down, lost, and very afraid of the unknowns we faced. Paige listened to my story…the whole story so she could understand the full picture and what all we were going through. I finally felt heard and understood, which was the start of me rebuilding strength to get thru this situation. She cared about not just my dad the patient, but listened and expressed empathy with caring about how my mom is doing (in a different hospital). She did what she said she was going to do and built trust with us. Paige gave me hope and strength! Even though I was alone in this situation, Paige made it seem like I had someone there with me. I would like to formally recognize Paige as she had left a lasting impression on me! She is the epitome of AMAZING!!!! Paige, thank you for being a shining light in the darkest of times. You have helped more than you will ever know. You truly care about the patient and their family.”

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died of complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.
