After-Hours Care Options

To speak with a Catawba Valley Family Medicine provider afterhours, please call: 828.324.0258. This service provides direct access to the on-call provider, not a triage phone line, to increase access to care and is intended for medical questions or concerns. Please call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency.

Medical issues can strike at any moment and you’re primary care physician may not always be available to look after you right when you need them. When this happens, you can receive the medical attention you need at a Catawba Valley Extended Hours clinic.

Catawba Valley Health System currently operates one extended hours clinic:
Catawba Valley Extended Hours – Maiden – This clinic is open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 8:00am and 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Urgent Care facilities offer a convenient option for injuries and illnesses that aren’t quite serious enough for the ER but still prompt you to seek a doctor’s care.

Dr. Maritess Gay Asumen is a board-certified family medicine physician who provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals and families of all ages. She is committed to helping patients achieve long-term health through a focus on preventive care, lifestyle medicine, and chronic disease management.

Dr. Asumen earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Touro University California and completed her Family Medicine residency at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where she received both the Academic Achievement Award and Resident Research Award. She also holds a Master of Business Administration from La Sierra University.

She is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, with additional certification in lifestyle medicine. Her clinical interests include preventive care, weight management, and whole-person wellness.

Dr. Asumen has practiced in a variety of settings across the country, bringing a broad perspective to patient care. She is passionate about building strong relationships with her patients and empowering them to take an active role in their health.

She is excited to join Catawba Valley Primary Care – Lenoir as part of Catawba Valley Health System and looks forward to serving the community.

Dr. Michael Jaje is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to helping patients achieve their health goals and live more vibrant, productive lives. He provides comprehensive primary care with a strong emphasis on prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management.

Dr. Jaje earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Family Medicine residency at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident and received the Academic Achievement Award.

He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine and brings experience from a variety of clinical settings across the country, including primary care, telemedicine, and hospital-based care.

Dr. Jaje values building lasting relationships with his patients and takes a collaborative approach to care, empowering individuals to take an active role in their health.

He is excited to join Catawba Valley Primary Care – Lenoir as part of Catawba Valley Health System and looks forward to caring for the community.
