Catawba Valley Infectious Disease Consultants

Catawba Valley Infectious Disease (ID) Consultants is a referral based ID clinic. Our physicians and nurse practitioners perform inpatient consultations at Catawba Valley Medical Center and accept outpatient referrals from other practices that require an ID evaluation.

We accept Private Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

Services provided include, but not limited to:

  • Clostridium Difficile Treatment
  • Hepatitis Treatment
  • HIV/AIDS Treatment
  • Management of Outpatient IV Antibiotic Therapy
  • Osteomyelitis Treatment
  • PrEP Therapy
  • Pre-Travel Consultations
  • TB Treatment

We are open Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm.

Fairgrove Primary Health (Ryan White Clinic) is an ambulatory-based clinic that provides primary and specialty care via a Ryan White Part C EIS/Primary Care grant. Through a larger network of providers, access to a variety of social support programs is available to individuals in the EIS/Primary Care program. The clinic’s service area includes the western North Carolina counties of Ashe, Alleghany, Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Watauga and Wilkes.

The Central Billing Office performs the billing and collections functions for Catawba Valley Infectious Disease Consultants. If you have questions about your bill, please call 828.464.2210. Hours of operations are Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5pm.

Beverly Lo, FNP-C
Beverly Lo, FNP-C
Beverly Lo is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a minor in Public Health in 2015. She started her career in intensive care unit. She then went on to become a travel nurse as she pursued higher education. She completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Family Practice from Simmons University in 2020. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Carrie Mitchell, FNP-C
Carrie Mitchell, FNP-C
Carrie Mitchell is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees through Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory and post master’s studies through University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She has focused on coordinating complex medical care for over 14 years and has worked at Fairgrove Primary Health since 2023. She lives locally with her husband and son. They enjoy outdoor activities and spending time together.
Kirsten Schutte, MD
Kirsten Schutte, MD
Dr. Kirsten Schutte is a dual Board-Certified physician in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. After finishing her medical training at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and her Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA before accepting a position in her husband’s home state of Oregon. Over the next eight years, she helped develop and expand access to Infectious Disease expertise within a nine-county catchment area in southern Oregon, serving a population of nearly 600,000. In 2024, her ties to family and friends in the region led her to Hickory and the opportunity join Catawba Valley Infectious Disease Consultants. Dr. Schutte’s professional interests include infection prevention and improving diagnostic stewardship in addition to providing exceptional patient-centered care. Outside of work you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, reading (preferrably while curled up with one of her two cats), finding new outlets for her creative side, and hiking in mountains of western North Carolina.

Prior to completing her fellowship at the University of Louisville in infectious disease, Dr. Corcino completed her residency at the Hospital Municipal San Juan and her medical degree at the Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara. She also completed an internship at the Hospital Oncologico.
Wheaton Williams, MD
Wheaton Williams, MD
Prior to completing his fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in infectious disease, Dr. Williams completed his residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and his medical degree at Medical College of Georgia. He also completed an internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.
