Our practice manages acute and chronic illnesses, treats acute injuries, performs minor office surgeries and, when necessary, refers you to an appropriate specialist. This service provides direct access to the on-call provider, not a triage phone line, to increase access to care and is intended for medical questions or concerns. Please call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency.

Medical issues can strike at any moment and you’re primary care physician may not always be available to look after you right when you need them. When this happens, you can receive the medical attention you need at a Catawba Valley Extended Hours clinic.

Catawba Valley Health System currently operates one extended hours clinic:
Catawba Valley Extended Hours – Maiden – This clinic is open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 8:00am and 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Urgent Care facilities offer a convenient option for injuries and illnesses that aren’t quite serious enough for the ER but still prompt you to seek a doctor’s care.

Dr. Cody Wingler has been a lifelong resident of Alexander County. He was born in Taylorsville, grew up in Hiddenite, and now lives in Bethlehem with his wife and their two children. He enjoys running any distance from 5ks to Ultra Marathons. He serves as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Hickory and sings on the praise team. He went to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed residency at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Areas of clinical expertise and interest include chronic disease management (diabetes, high blood pressure), preventative care, as well as Sports Medicine (including joint injection). He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Hannah is a lifelong Alexander County resident who grew up in the Bethlehem community and now resides in the Wittenburg community with her husband and three young children. She attended Montreat college for her undergraduate degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences and Chemistry. She later attended Wingate University and completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. She has been a Family Medicine Physician Assistant for the past 8 years.

She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, swimming, doing DIY projects, and playing with her 2 dogs. Hannah says, “I am committed to continuing the healthcare excellence that has been the standard before me. I will continue to follow a calling to serve this community and am dedicated to push for the health and well- being for all of my community members.”

Her special interests are pediatrics, women’s health and weight management treatment.

Dr. Jeffrey Hively is a Board-Certified Family Medicine practitioner. He graduated from Marshall University School of Medicine and successfully completed his residency from West Virginia University. As a physician, he has graciously accepted awards such as Patient High Impact Performer, Compassionate Doctor Recognition, Patients Choice, Preceptor of the Year for Excellence in Student Clinical Education. He is an active member in the American Academy of Family Physicians and the North Carolina Academy of Family Practice.

As a seasoned physician, Dr. Hively is committed to discussing preventive approaches with his patients and helps them live their healthiest lives. He loves taking care of folks from pediatrics to geriatrics. His expertise includes chronic disease management, skin procedures, and joint pain care. He is keen on building strong relationships through listening. He engages his patients in the individualized treatments for their concerns.

Dr. Hively was raised in a West Virginia community where his father practiced family care. Following completion of his training, he was privileged to collaborate with his dad. Once his father retired and two children graduated high school, he and his wife, Kim, ventured into Southern Virginia and North Carolina to create new memories.

You may see him on his bicycle around the area. He loves to cycle on country and gravel roads. He also loves to spend time reading, yoga, gardening, and preparing big meals for his extended family.
