Catawba County Neurosciences Center

Diagnostics & Treatment for Strokes, Sleep Disorders & More

The Neurosciences Center at Catawba Valley Medical Center provides stroke patients with diagnostic and treatment services to determine the extent of neuro damage caused by the event. Here, patients have access to state of the art CT and MRI imaging that can provide a clear image on what parts of the brain may have been affected by a stroke. Once doctors have reviewed these results, they can begin formulating a specialized treatment plan designed to address a patient’s specific condition.

In addition to stroke care, the Neurosciences Center also provides diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders and other neurological conditions.

Neurosurgery

Our facility is outfitted with the StealthStation treatment guidance system. This is a revolutionary, next-generation 3D imaging technology that creates highly detailed images of the brain. Using this technology, our neurosurgeons are able to make very precise movements and decisions while operating. As a result, patients may have significantly shortened operating times, reduced surgical invasiveness, and faster recoveries.

With this technology we can:

  • Remove blockages in carotid arteries
  • Create a 3-D model of a patient’s brain
  • Strategize operations so that they are minimally invasive and safe
  • Perform complex neurosurgeries like brain aneurysm repair with greater accuracy
