    While he spent most of his young life in Winston-Salem with his seven brothers and sisters, Dr. Lopina is originally from a small rural town in Wisconsin.

    After graduating as valedictorian from Bishop McGuinness High School, where he was Student Council President, and Captain of the varsity soccer team, he earned two degrees from UNC Chapel Hill.

    Prior to completing his residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and earning two teaching awards, he received a Doctorate of Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

    Dr. Lopina has served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Catawba Valley Health System and has provided free medical care at St. Joseph's Good Samaritan Clinic in Newton. He also volunteers as team physician for the Newton-Conover High School Varsity Football Team.

    Dr. Lopina practices all aspects of family medicine, with the exception of obstetrics. He cares for a wide array of patients from newborns and children to adolescents and adults and has a special interest in pediatrics. He also performs minor surgical procedures in the office.

    Dr. Lopina lives in Newton with his wife and three children. He and his family serve as parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton and he is currently a Cub Scout Pack leader in Conover. When he is not working, he enjoys exercising, playing and listening to music, spending time outdoors and with his family.
