FaithHealth Volunteer Vickie Scott Receives United Way Giving From The Heart Volunteer Award

FaithHealth Catawba volunteer Vickie Scott, now in her sixties, has always had a passion for giving back. Recently she received the United Way’s Giving from the Heart Volunteer Award recognizing her many contributions to those most in need throughout our community.

In addition to making home visits, providing emotional and spiritual support to adults as a FaithHealth Catawba volunteer, she also advocates for at-risk youth residing in the Ridgecrest Public Housing complex. Her work with children began after she retired from public school work after more than 39 years of service working with exceptional children and providing behavior support. Today, she helps kids with homework and teaches them life lessons like how to resolve conflicts with their friends in a healthy way.

“Showing love and helping to meet the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors is so important,” said Vickie. “From helping those in need with transportation to the doctor or grocery store to taking kids bowling, skating or swimming, I try to help people realize they are not alone.”

This holiday season, we would like to take a moment to give thanks for volunteers like Vickie who generously and selflessly provide love and a human connection to our neighbors in need.
