How Catawba Valley Health System covers your medical needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Often patients in our community find themselves in need of care after hours, and as the community’s largest healthcare provider, Catawba Valley Health System (CVHS) offers multiple ways to find that care through our primary care providers with Catawba Valley Medical Group (CVMG), their Urgent Care Centers, and of course the Emergency Department at Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC). But many patients are not sure which option to choose, so this guide may help you make that choice.

Choose the right health care setting when you need it.

The quality and cost of medical care can vary widely, depending on where you go for treatment and services. We provide care at multiple locations based on your individual needs.

Not a health emergency?

If possible, go to your CVMG primary care/family doctor for medical care. Your CVMG team knows you best and can quickly access your medical records.

We offer extended hours, making it easier to receive care during hours that suit your schedule. Some practices are open early in the morning, in the evening, or on the weekend. Visit www.catawbavalleyhealth.org to see if your CVMG physician’s office offers extended hours.

During office hours:

Contact your CVMG physician’s office by phone OR contact your CVMG physician’s office by patient portal: https://cvmgonline.org/patient-portal/

After hours/Weekends/Holidays:

Call 828.324.0258 to speak with the CVMG physician on-call OR if you feel you need treatment or services more urgently, see a CVMG provider at one of their Urgent Care Centers:

Catawba Valley Urgent Care – Piedmont
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am to 7pm
Saturday/Sunday/Holidays: 9am to 5pm
Located at: 2972 N. Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601
Phone: 828.431.4955

Saturday Clinic:
Catawba Valley Urgent Care – Maiden
Hours: Saturdays (9am to 1pm)
Located at: 137 Island Ford Road, Maiden, NC 28650
Phone: 828.428.2446

If you have an emergency situation.

Proceed directly to our Emergency Department (ED) at Catawba Valley Medical Center on Fairgrove Church Road, OR call 911 for an ambulance to expedite the trip with care along the way. Once there, the patient will be triaged (assessed) for the urgency of the health issue and will be treated in a timely manner based on that assessment. Some patients in the Emergency Department may be sent to our FastTrack Clinic adjacent to the ED for quicker treatment of minor health issues.
