Come Play at Safe Kids Day and Learn About Preventing Injuries

HICKORY, NC – April 28, 2015 – Catawba Valley Medical Center, the lead agency for Safe Kids Catawba County, encourages children of all ages to come enjoy Safe Kids Day 2015 this Saturday, May 2nd between 10am and 1pm at Conover Station Park. This free annual event is a fun way for kids and parents to learn how to be safe at home, at play and on the way.

Safe Kids Day helps raise awareness of the primary cause of death among children – preventable injuries. This year the event will be held at Conover Station Park at 409 4th St SE and is sponsored by Jason Herman Insurance, a local Nationwide agency. A full slate of fun and interactive learning activities are planned including an exercise obstacle course, games and bouncy houses. Teens and parents can take a spin on a distracted driving course or experience a rollover simulator. Ambulance and fire truck tours will be given, with participants having an opportunity to spray the fire truck water hose.

Herman says, “Kids are going to fall, crash, slip, and explore. It’s part of being a kid. But, we hope that Safe Kids Day will help protect them from serious injuries. Come celebrate youth while learning about how to save children’s lives. We believe in protecting what matters most – your kids.”
