Party on the Lawn Benefits Women in Philanthropy

HICKORY, NC – May 27, 2014 —Women In Philanthropy (WIP), will host its annual benefit event – Party on the Lawn this Saturday, May 31 at the SALT Block from 4:30 – 7:30 PM. WIP, a “Giving Circle,” of women who combine their philanthropic contributions to benefit organizations affiliated with the Catawba Medical Foundation, is an extension of Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC).

Both men and women are invited to Saturday’s event, featuring BBQ and beer on the SALT Block North Lawn with music provided by duo Charlie Zagaroli and Jeff Arditti. 2014 WIP Members tour the CVMC Level III NICU

WIP hopes Party on the Lawn will be a catalyst for growth of its WIP membership currently consisting of 20 influential Catawba Valley women led by Rebecca Wright, President. WIP is open to women of all ages desiring to become advocates for enhanced patient care. Several notable examples of recent WIP contributions include:

  • $20,000 for two infusion bays in the Comprehensive Cancer Center located in CVMC’s New Patient Pavilion
  • $10,250 for three Z-FLO Neonatal Fluidized Positioners and one Wireless Telemetry Fetal Monitor
  • $3,400 to provide a vanity, make-up mirror, wigs and caps to Details Salon, the new home for the American Cancer Society’s Wig Bank

“WIP is a tremendous example of people coming together to make a difference in the community,” said Guy Guarino, Chief Development Officer at CVMC. “WIP improves the quality of care for patients by supporting particular needs identified by the Foundation.”
