CVMC's Center for Sleep Disorders Announces Three Physicians Board Certified in Sleep Medicine

Three physicians practicing in The Center for Sleep Disorders at Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) recently received Board Certification in Sleep Medicine, according to Scott Gibson, director of The Center for Sleep Disorders.

Kathy Wilson, MD and CVMC hospitalist, serves as the Medical Director for The Center for Sleep Disorders. Dr. Wilson earned her Board certification in Sleep Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

McKendree McNabb, MD, is a private practice pulmonologist with an office in downtown Hickory. Dr. McNabb also earned his Board certification in Sleep Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Robert Yapundich, MD, is a neurologist with Neurology Associates. Dr. Yapundich earned his Board certification in Sleep Medicine through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

“It’s a unique attribute for one facility in our area to have three physicians board certified in Sleep Medicine,” said Gibson. “We are pleased to have Drs. Wilson, McNabb and Yapundich providing area residents with quality care in accessing and treating sleep health issues.”

The CVMC Center for Sleep Disorders is a six-bed facility and the first in the area to receive national accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

Hours for the Center for Sleep Disorders are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to provide initial consultations, Multiple Sleep Latency Testing, Multiple Wake Testing and follow-up visits with physicians and community education.
