Steps Into the Future

Catawba Valley Medical Center recognizes that the birth of your child is one of the most important and special experiences in your life.

Catawba Medical Foundation offers a unique way for family members and friends to commemorate this meaningful occasion. Steps Into the Future is a special tribute to infants born at Catawba Valley Medical Center. The newborn’s name and footprint is etched into a special silver medallion in either blue or pink with the date of birth. The medallion will be placed onto the beautiful display on the Birthing Center floor and then you will receive a duplicate medallion as a keepsake.

Not only is a Steps Into the Future medallion a gift of love that will last a lifetime, it is a gift that will continue to support the Birthing Center and its programs. A portion of the money from each medallion goes into the Maternal/Child fund of Catawba Medical Foundation. This fund helps purchase the newest and most vital equipment that makes the Birthing Center of Catawba Valley Medical Center the state-of-the-art facility that it is. The fund also supports the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or NICU. Even in the recent past, the sickest babies born in our community had to be sent to larger hospitals to be cared for, but now they can stay closer to home and still receive the highest quality care.

Your contribution of $175 will allow your baby’s footprint to be displayed with the hundreds of other babies born over the past decades. Additional medallions may be ordered for $50 each if ordered at the same time. Any baby born at CVMC—whether they were born ten days ago or ten years ago—may be added to the display.

Memorials

Children who were with us for too short a time may also be recognized in Steps Into the Future. A special satin bronze medallion will be etched with the name, footprint, and dates of birth and death. This tribute assures that your child will be always remembered in a beautiful way.

Catawba Medical Foundation is a 501(c) (3) not for profit organization. All funds received by CMF are used strictly to support Catawba Valley Medical Center and are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Of the $145 contribution to Steps to the Future, $55 is considered a tax-deductible gift.
