Dr. Goodman was born and raised in Hickory, NC. He obtained his B.S. from
Davidson College and attended University of NC School of Medicine. He
did his internship and residency for the Department of Family Medicine
at Penn State University in Hershey, PA. He served 2 years in the US Army
at Fort Gordon, GA in the Dwight Eisenhower Medical Center. He taught
family medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina for 11 years.
He was Residency Director for the 45-person, 3 year training program for
the last 8 years he was there. Returning to his hometown of Hickory over
25 years ago, he practiced with his father for the last 10 years of his
illustrious career. Dr. Brooks joined him in 1999 and they have served
the people of Hickory at their current location since 2001.
Dr. Goodman and his wife have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys
traveling, gardening, reading, his yellow lab and being a member of the
Catawba Valley Wildlife Club.
