Originally from Caldwell, Ohio, Dr. Forshey is part of a large family (12
children). He and his wife Barb have been married for 43 years and have
three grown children Nathan, Desmond and Drew. They are currently spoiling
their eight grandchildren.
Prior to completing his Doctorate of Medicine from Ohio State University,
Dr. Forshey completed his residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in
Columbus, Ohio. After working as an emergency physician in the early 1980s
he moved to Newton, North Carolina to open a family medicine clinic where
he has served his community for more than 30 years.
Dr. Forshey is on active medical staff with Catawba Valley Health System
and has served as Chief of Staff in 2003. He has also continued to serve
as a Trustee and on various other committees. He is board certified through
the American Board of Family Physicians and is member of the American
Academy of Family Physicians and the North Carolina Academy of Family
Physicians and North Carolina Medical Society and the Catawba County Medical Society.
Dr. Forshey cares for a wide range of patients from newborns to seniors.
He has a special interest in improving lifestyles for all ages and is
now caring for family across generations. He performs minor office surgeries
and enjoys all the aspects of disease management.
He is an avid gardener and enjoys playing golf, running and traveling to
see his grandchildren.
